Maderas gets more than its share of course reviews, but we've never had quite like this one from Matt Ward of Golf Travel Weekly.
We recently did some year-end number crunching and it showed Maderas hosted more than 900 GolfBoard rounds in 2016! We wanted to send a big thank you to everyone who rented and rode with us in GolfBoard's inaugural season at Maderas.
Dining at Maderas is changing in 2017, but for those who enjoy our themed dinners, it's all good news: Get ready to join us twice each month!
In lieu of its regular Wednesday Burger Nite, Maderas is shifting toward twice-monthly themed dinners, which are currently held once a month. The second Wednesday of the month will feature many familiar favorite themes (Mardi Gras, Oktoberfest, Lobster and Bubbly, etc.), but the schedule for the last Wednesday of the month will be akin to a culinary West Coast road trip, with a different stop every month, starting in Baja and ending up in Vancouver! Baja begins this dining journey on Jan. 25 and San Diego will have its own theme night the last Wed of Feb.
Maderas General Manager Michael Flickinger said the shift is in response to dining demand and changing habits at Maderas, but those who regularly patronize and enjoy the club's theme dinners should be thrilled that second line-up of themed dinners has been added.
"Our patrons have always enjoyed 'taking a trip' to various culinary locations with Chef Earl at the wheel. The West Coast ‘road trip’ is an extension of that concept," Flickinger said.
Flickinger added that the regular Wednesday Burger Night may return on the current Wednesday off nights in the spring, when the change of seasons allows for popular patio dining and the club notices a seasonal shift in attendance.
Stay tuned to Maderas' social media for a complete calendar of ALL the themed dining nights in 2017. Call 858.217.2561 for further details or advance reservations.
Maderas received a number of complimentary reviews to close 2016, but we particularly like this one by golfcalifornia.com that, among other things, dubs Maderas "San Diego's finest inland public course" and says "(Maderas" just might be San Diego's premier public place to play."
The notoriously challenging par-5 14th hole at Maderas has been named to Southland Golf's Best 18 Holes in San Diego. Southland selected its Best 18 in its December issue. You can read the complete list here.
Mark your holding shopping calendar: Maderas will kick off its holiday sale with a Black Friday on Nov. 25th. You can look forward to the following specials:
As you head to the polls to vote in what is expected to be one of our most historic elections ever, we at Maderas hope you consider supporting Measure W- an effort to start the process with the City of Poway to build a hotel on our golf course. We’d like you to think about not only the impact on Poway but how a hotel would transform the visitor experience at Maderas.
Congratulations to Maderas Golf Academy Director Chris Mayson for his repeat recognition as one of Golf Digest’s Top Young Teachers for 2016-17!
