The 20th Annual Champions for Rady Children’s Hospital golf tournament on June 6th at Maderas will include a unique fundraising twist open to non-attendees of the tournament.
The San Diego Marriott Business Council is hosting the tournament and will sponsor a helicopter ball drop that could earn the winner $3,000. The drop will take place at the conclusion of the tournament (around 5 p.m.). A helicopter will hoist buckets of golf balls above the ninth green. Each ball will represent the purchaser of the ball. The ball that goes into the hole will win up to $3,000 (FYI, dollar amount is base on selling the maximum 500 balls). If no ball goes into the hole, then the ball that is closest to the pin as determined by a Maderas golf pro will be declared the winner.
The payout amount will be reduced proportionally if fewer than 500 balls are sold. Ball purchases are $20 each, and you can purchase as many as you would like. Purchasing will be open until 500 balls are sold or until noon (PST) on Monday, June 6.
This opportunity is open to everyone; you do not have to be a player, you do not have to work for Marriott – tell your friends and family, and share this link. You do not need to be present to win, and a video of the fun will be posted on Facebook. All winnings are subject to Federal and State taxes as applicable by law. The winner will be notified on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
Thanks to last year’s contributions, the Rady’s tournament raised over $80,000. Annually, the proceeds have directly affected over 214,000 youngsters locally. Rady is the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare. It is also the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center. The goal this year is to raise over $100,000.
